THERAPY & COACHING

Support that’s warm, affirming, and never rushed.

Halophyte Wellness is a family-owned practice led by Juan Mendez, LMFT. With six years of experience, Juan brings a calm, “nerdy” approach—using your interests as thoughtful tools for connection, insight, and real-life change.

We work with individuals, couples, and families (ages 8+), including the LGBTQAI+ community. Whether you’re navigating anxiety, conflict, parenting stress, or a big transition, you’ll get practical support, clear next steps, and a space where you won’t be judged.

GOOD TO KNOW

Services FAQ

Do you see individuals, couples, and families?

Yes. Halophyte Wellness offers therapy for individuals, couples, and families. You don’t have to come in with a “perfect” reason—if something feels off, stuck, or heavy, we can sort it out together and choose a pace that feels manageable.

What ages do you work with?

Juan works with clients ages 8+—including kids, teens, and adults. For younger clients, caregiver involvement is discussed up front so everyone understands the plan and feels supported.

Are you LGBTQAI+ affirming?

Absolutely. You can expect an LGBTQAI+ affirming, nonjudgmental space. Your identity, relationships, and family structure are respected—therapy is about helping you feel more like you, not less.

What’s the difference between therapy and life coaching?

Therapy focuses on mental health, healing, and patterns that affect your wellbeing and relationships. Life coaching is more goal- and action-oriented—helping you build skills, clarity, and follow-through. If you’re unsure which fits, we’ll talk it through.

What does a first session look like?

It’s a relaxed conversation to understand what’s bringing you in, what you’ve tried, and what you want to be different. You’ll leave with a clearer sense of next steps, and you can ask anything—no pressure, no rush.

I’m nervous—do I have to talk about everything right away?

No. You’re in control of the pace. We’ll start where you are, focus on what feels most important, and build trust over time. It’s okay to be unsure, overwhelmed, or skeptical—showing up is enough to begin.
